Camping - Top Spots in South Western Australia- Walpole

If you are looking for a nice place to go camping in the south of Western Australia then Walpole is a great option for you being close to the water for boating, fishing, swimming as well as bush walks.

After the heat of Morawa it was great to get down south and do some camping in the cooler weather !

We don't normally stay in caravan parks especially the school holidays however as there was a tent site available at Coalmine beach for a few days we decided to give it a go!

Our spot was a decent size but with a small tent & wanting shade we went under the tree .

As it rained almost everyday the tarp was very much appreciated for a bit of cover.

Walpole does't look like there is much to do if you just drive through on the highway without having a good look behind the scenes.

We spent about 5 days there and had a great time exploring Walpole and surrounding areas..

From climbing a mountain on a rainy day, doing the tree walk to checking out Green pool & a toffee factory we saw a lot & had a fantastic time!

If you only see one area down south make sure you see the area Walpole to Denmark!

We really enjoyed our cruise with the guys from the jetty in Walpole out to this beautiful bay where they had it set up for afternoon tea!

Along the way we saw a large stingray in the water up close.

It was an entertaining trip with our storyteller Gary keeping up the pace !

When we arrived at this spot there was the option for a walk to the otherside to a remote beach or sit , wait & enjoy the scenery.

We chose to do half the walk as there was no swimming allowed the otherside & enjoyed a swim in this water!

After a coffee & home made cake we made our way back to Walpole!

There are three locations around Walpole that permit camping in the National Parks.

Crystal Springs - Situated in the Walpole-Nornalup National Park 12km west of Walpole.
Amenities: toilets, tank water, BBQ ( no guaranteed supply of wood and bring own axe)
Price: $7 per adult/per night, $5 Concession Card holders/per night, $2.00 school age children under 16 

Centre Road Crossing - Situated in National Park on the Deep River, 20km west of Walpole on South Western Highway.
Amenities: toilets, tank water , BBQ ( no guaranteed supply of wood and bring own axe) 1 cabin available- first come first serve, maximum stay 3 days.
Must boil Deep River water.
Price: Free of charge

Fernhook Falls -This looked a nice area where you can swim ! Situated 36 km north-west of Walpole on Beardmore Road, turn off South Western Highway.
Amenities: toilets, tank water, Gas BBQs, campers kitchen, 2 cabins available- first come first serve, maximum stay 3 days.
Must boil Deep River water.
Price: $7per adult/per night, $5 Concession Card holders/per night, $2.00 school age children under 16

We found Honeymoon Pool by accident near Wellington Dam out from Collie!

It was so nice we stayed for a few days by the river.

There are bbq's , toilets & table & chairs.

It is popular so you need to arrive early for a site.The ranger calls by everday to collect camping fees, check the gas etc
