Where to get your Prawns!

Have you ever had the fun of being out prawning in the middle of the night fully clothed waist deep in water trying to catch your own prawns as they are swimming towards you fast ?!

It is fun if you are into it like we were even though I wasn't that good at it being my first time and I don't enjoy wearing any more than a bikini in the water so I felt uncomfortable in clothes!

However it made a change to be eating prawns that we caught ourselves later on rather than just buying them at the local shop as we usually do and

Garlic Prawns are great for an entree especially when eating out doors as we do a lot when there are not millions of flies with extreme heat. So you want to know how to cook prawns now you have either caught them fresh or bought them from the local shop !

Cooking garlic prawns !

Garlic prawns make a delicious entree for a meal

Make sure you have a nice drop of Australian wine chilled first or whatever you prefer with your prawns. !

Need

Raw prawns- we use a kilo

Fresh garlic

lemon

butter

Dice garlic up till its really small .Cant beat fresh garlic and it is supposed to have many health benefits as well .

Peel a kilo of green prawns leaving the tail on them.

Have your pan hot with butter in it and when melted start heating up your garlic in the pan .

When the garlic is getting dark add a handful of prawns into the pan at a time.

Squeeze a few drops of fresh lemon over them for an extra tang !

They only take a few minutes to change colour and be ready for eating.

As prawns are a low in fat & are a good source of protein this makes for a nice healthy entree!

As many of you don't like garlic another delicious alternative is a prawn cocktail.

This is healthy as well + quick and easy to make.

Need

fresh crisp lettuce leaf

diced lettuce

cooked prawns

tomato

lemon

seafood sauce

Place the crisp lettuce leaf in a small bowl.

put a small handful diced lettuce in followed by a decent amount of prawns !

pour a small amount of seafood sauce on top .

with a slice of tomato & lemon.

BBQ Prawns are nice as well

either BBQ garlic prawns or prawns marinaded on a skewer.

This is a great time to let your imagination have some fun ! experiment with marinades & sauces.

If there is a flavour you don't like then just don't do it again!

It can be a lot of fun cooking especially for a date on a rainy day !

They are also nice in a curry or stir fry.
