Why do flies want to explore the insides of your nose or mouth especially while you are on your bike ??

What happens if I swallowed a fly ?

Earlier today I answered a question here on hubpages about coming up with ideas for hubs .

My suggestion was to go for a walk , swim or bike ride as I always come up with an idea at these times when away from the laptop !

As I was biking over to the pool for a swim & decide what to write next I swallowed my second fly of the day & it isn't even lunchtime yet .

I hate swallowing flies especially out in public as it doesn't look that great when you are trying to cough them up.

Another thing I hate is when they fly up your nose , that really bugs me!

I remembered there was a song about an old lady who swallowed a fly that my Dad used to sing to us when we were younger so I decided to do a hub on it .

There are so many flies in Western Australia that you have to be careful that you don't have your mouth open too long or you help us out by lowering the fly population !!

 I had a look around to see what answers there were to this question so here are some I found !

First. . . .it'll tickle your tummy while the digestive juices marinate it! Then it will pass through your body like. . . . .erm. . . . .protein! Then. . . . . .STOP INHALING THEM!

then you must swallow a spider & things just keep getting worss

it gets stuck in your lungs and in a few days you start to cough up maggots

you get buzzed.

 

Well if its a housefly and you swallow the green stuff you get a disgusting taste ..otherwise dont worry about it..just try not to do it all the time.

You cough and splutter...sometimes you can hack it out..othertimes you swallow it. I know an old wman who swallowed a fly...I don't know why....

You turn into one. Don't you know that?

It's ok for you, but not too good for the fly.

You will be OK, everyone has eaten a bug or a fly at one time or another and we are still here. Don't worry, you will be OK.   you will be completely fine. the average American eats like over 40 spiders a year. once that fly goes down your throat and into your stomach its dead dead immediately because of all the acid being produced by your body. you will be fine and you won't get sick. its actually probably good for you. most bugs have protein in them.  

 The answer that I have found out seems to be nothing , sometimes you get to cough it back up & other times it is to late so you just swallow it & carry on with your day !

Keep your mouth shut when riding or walking to avoid swallowing them !

Make sure you have a rubbish bin with a tight fitting lid & keep the bin clean & closed at all times.

Wrap your rubbish tightly in 3-4 sheets of newspaper.

Don't leave uneaten food sitting around, get it wrapped & thrown away ASAP.

if you keep chickens or any caged birds make sure their cages are kept clean at all times.

Spread lawn clippings thinly on your garden not just in a big heap.

Contact your Enviormental Health Officer for more advice on fly control.

A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking a round with a fly swatter.

I have tried Frogs legs when in France  , taste like chicken, I did felt sorry for the poor frogs in their wheelchairs !

Other People .

well...it was more along the lines of a maggot. I was eating a candy bar and I unwrapped half of it and took a bite. then i unwrapped more of it and saw half a maggot wiggling around in the wrapper. I then figured out where the other half was:o i ran to the bathroom and almost threw up.....i didn't finish the candy bar and my brother could not stop laughing about it.   for my first job i was a logger, comes with living in rural vermont. Swallowing bugs was common because all the kicked up dirt and sap would attract fruit flies, Horseflies, anything you can think of.

eventually you gain a technique for swallowing them quickly to you can keep hacking away at the trees     Swallowed lots of flies, inhaled some flying beasties, got bees in the eyes...but you know what they say:
you can tell a happy cyclist by the flies on his teeth

I was prcticing badminton the other day, and I went to the water cooler to fill my water bottle. When i drank from it, I felt n unusual sensation in my mouth, and I just swallowed. My friend then said he saw a fly buzzing in there. I had an epic "..." moment.

What a cool idea for a hub. What does happen if you swallow a fly... Flies are so gross, lets all grab the fly swatter. Do they still make those? :) Katie

yes !! we have 5 shaped like a hand & use them every day !Flies drive us nuts !
